Novuss game was invented by Northern European sailors in the 1920s. Ship rooms where too narrow and too unstable to play billiard. So sailors invented a game that uses a square-shaped board, small disks, and a cue stick. The game's popularity in Northern Europe made it into a national sport of the Republic of Latvia.
