During WW2, Betty Withers joined the Wrens and served as a cook. On the eve of the D-Day landings, she prepared meals for young soldiers, many of whom would never return. She didn’t carry a weapon, but her hands fed courage and her kitchen became a quiet place of comfort before history changed forever.
