A lone sea wolf trots along the shore on long, loping strides with an abalone shell in its mouth. For weeks on end, we camped out in tents near the tidal flats of British Columbia, hoping for a glimpse of these incredibly unique animals. Sea wolves are a small culture of wolves subsisting almost entirely on marine life within the intertidal zone. We hunkered down in blinds under a constant drizzle and kept our eyes trained day in and day out for even the tiniest hint of life. We could hear the w
