LS Lowry’s beloved ‘Going To The Match’ (1953), adored by football fans and art enthusiasts, has been bought by the @the_lowry in Salford, saving it from disappearing into a private collection 🎨🚶‍♂️ The arts centre paid £7.8m including fees for the original works at auction, but firmly believe that the piece should remain in public view for free. ‘Going To The Match’ will reside in his namesake Lowry Theatre, in the artists hometown of Salford.
